Day 2: Machame Camp to Shira Camp (3,840m)

  • Trekking: 4–6 hours | 5 km

Day 3: Shira Camp to Barranco Camp via Lava Tower (3,950m)

A crucial acclimatization day. The route gradually ascends to the Lava Tower (4,630m), where you stop for lunch at high altitude. The descent into Barranco Valley provides the “climb high, sleep low” benefit, preparing your body for summit day.

  • Trekking: 4–5 hours | 6 km

  • Overnight: Karanga Camp

Day 5: Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp (4,670m)

The landscape becomes harsher as you trek through alpine desert to reach Barafu Camp, your base camp for the summit attempt. The rest of the day is spent resting, hydrating, and preparing for the climb to the top of Africa.

  • Trekking: 3–4 hours | 4 km

  • Overnight: Barafu Camp

Day 6: Summit Day – Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak (5,895m) to Mweka Camp (3,100m)

Around midnight, the summit attempt begins. Slowly and steadily, you ascend scree slopes under a starlit sky, reaching Stella Point (5,739m) at sunrise. After a final push, you stand at Uhuru Peak (5,895m) — the highest point in Africa.

After celebrations and photos, descend back to Barafu for a short rest, then continue down to Mweka Camp, where you spend the night.

  • Trekking: 10–14 hours | 15 km

  • Overnight: Mweka Camp

Day 7: Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate (1,640m)

The final descent passes back into the rainforest, alive with bird calls and lush vegetation. At Mweka Gate, you receive your Kilimanjaro summit certificate before returning to Moshi or Arusha for a well-deserved rest.

  • Trekking: 3–4 hours | 10 km

  • Overnight: Hotel in Moshi/Arusha (arranged separately)
