Detailed 6 Days Tanzania Safari Itinerary
Day 1: Arusha → Tarangire National Park
Drive from Arusha to Tarangire National Park, known for its elephant herds and giant baobab trees. Enjoy a full game drive spotting lions, zebras, giraffes, buffalo, wildebeests, and over 400 bird species.
Dinner and overnight at a lodge/camp near Karatu or Lake Manyara.
Day 2: Tarangire → Serengeti National Park
After breakfast, continue through the Ngorongoro Highlands into the vast Serengeti National Park. On your first game drive, you’ll explore the sweeping savannah plains and enjoy sightings of lions, cheetahs, leopards, hyenas, and herds of wildebeest and zebras.
Dinner and overnight inside Serengeti at a lodge/camp.
Day 3: Full Day in Serengeti National Park
Spend the entire day in the Serengeti with morning and afternoon game drives. Depending on the season, you may witness the Great Wildebeest Migration, where millions of wildebeests, zebras, and gazelles move across the plains followed by predators.
Dinner and overnight in Serengeti.
Day 4: Serengeti → Ngorongoro Highlands
Enjoy one more game drive in the Serengeti before leaving for the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Along the way, you may stop at a Maasai village (optional, cultural visit).
Arrive at your lodge/camp on the crater rim or highlands for dinner and overnight.
Day 5: Ngorongoro Crater Safari
Descend into the Ngorongoro Crater, a wildlife paradise often called the Eighth Wonder of the World. The crater floor is home to elephants, buffalo, hippos, lions, zebras, flamingos, and the rare black rhino.
Enjoy a picnic lunch inside the crater before continuing your game drive. Later, ascend and drive to your lodge near Lake Manyara for overnight stay.
Day 6: Lake Manyara National Park → Arusha
On the final day, explore Lake Manyara National Park, famous for its tree-climbing lions, large hippo pools, and thousands of flamingos along the soda lake. After your game drive and picnic lunch, return to Arusha, where your safari concludes.
